Jamy Barreau

Raised in Port St. Lucie, attorney Jamy Barreau is the founder and managing attorney of Barreau Legal, PLLC, where he helps individuals and families protect what they have built, prepare for the future, and preserve wealth across generations. His practice focuses on estate planning, high-net-worth estate planning, probate and trust administration, and mediation.

Licensed to practice law in Florida, Minnesota, and Washington, D.C., Jamy works with clients to develop thoughtful legal strategies tailored to their families, assets, and long-term objectives. His approach recognizes that effective estate planning is about more than preparing documents. It is about understanding how a client’s assets, family circumstances, tax considerations, and goals work together to create a comprehensive plan.

Estate planning is at the heart of Jamy’s practice. Jamy’s commitment to this work is deeply connected to his own story. The son of Haitian immigrants and the first lawyer in his family, he was raised in Port St. Lucie and developed an early interest in the law through the Criminal Justice Academy at St. Lucie West Centennial High School and his involvement with the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit’s Teen Court program.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida and his Juris Doctor from Barry University School of Law, where he served on the Law Review editorial board as a Research and Technical Editor. Recognizing the important intersection of taxation, wealth preservation, and estate planning, Jamy later earned an LL.M. in Taxation with a concentration in Estate Planning from Boston University School of Law.

Beyond his law practice, Jamy is actively involved in the legal profession and his community. He serves in leadership roles within bar and professional organizations and teaches future legal professionals as a professor of law and paralegal studies. Education is equally important in his client relationships. Jamy strives to ensure that clients understand not simply the documents they sign, but the strategies behind their planning and how the various components work together.
